Contains the following type of materials: photographs. Covers the following war: Indian Wars. Contains photographs of the following military units and organizations: 14th United States (U.S.) Infantry; U.S.M.A., 1887; 2nd Infantry Division. General description of the collection: Sladen photograph collection includes a small amount of images from several generations of Sladen's in the U.S. Army. The first group are of Captain Joseph Alton Sladen, Captain G.J. Jeffords and the Mexican/Apache Interpreter-Conception, all of who were involved with the scout to Chochise's Camp in 1872. The next and largest group are photos of Fred Winchester Sladen and U.S.M.A. cadets of the graduating class of 1890 and their instructors and 1887 summer camp training. A third group are of Major General John L. Hines pinning awards on World War I, 2nd Division officers in 1919. There is also one photo of Major General E.S. Otis and his aids in the Philippines in 1899, one photo of a group of ten military bicyclists debarking from a ferry boat named Vancouver (circa 1900), one photo of a zeppelin shed at Treves, France in 1919, one photo of the headquarters staff at Camp Stotsenberg in 1927, and two photos of an artillery battery crossing a pontoon bridge at Fort Hoyle, Maryland in 1931.
